Linda Bates
I sip my wine from a coffee mug
While I sit and watch the dogs all sleep
The sun is down
The moon is up
Coyotes in the desert deep
I hear their song
Dogs slumber on
I feel the breeze
Just an August tease
Out the door I quietly creep
Running barefoot through the desert sand
Coyotes on all sides
The moon is full
My heart is too
On nights like this I still think of you
Back inside the dogs awake
Time for bed, for goodness sake
