Linda Bates
Driving around with the windows down
Hair used to be so long and brown
Now white hair blows in the desert breeze
Loving life as I near 70
I have discovered something deep inside of me
Something I always wanted to be
Painting pictures which make people smile
Lines in a poem so they can giggle awhile
Wrote this poem while driving around
Truly wish I could write me some songs
Listening to Jimmy all month long
Hard to believe he’s really gone
Turn on the a/c! I don’t think so
Sweet desert wind comes through my window
Time to turn around and head for home
Dogs are all waiting. I’ll bring them some bones.
